Course cloning is an easy way to speed up your content creation. Some instructors like to make a basic, template course, and clone multiple courses from there. Others use cloning to make sure their courses are perfectly consistent from semester to semester.
Cloned courses are "fresh," meaning that while instructor-created content (info, sessions, coursework, resources) is the same, student-generated content is cleared out (like the Gradebook, roster, gallery and forums).
To clone an existing course, click the Create Course (at the top of your screen), and select Copy Course from the menu that pops up.
- Select the course you’d like to copy from the Course dropdown menu.
- In the New Course Information section, you can update the Course Number and Course Name, and lastly, select the term of the new course from the Term dropdown menu.
- Click the Next Step button.
- Use the Select Content step to select what content you'd like to include/exclude in your new course, and click the Next Step button.
Review the information for your new course, and when you’re ready, click the Clone Course button.
Once you’re done, it will take Kannu up to an hour to make the clone. You'll receive an email confirming its success, and after it's done, you can view your new course by going to Drafts on the My Courses page.
